New Year’s Eve Style

The second I saw these festive pants, I knew they had New Year’s Eve written all over them!  I just can’t get over how perfect these pants are for a party when you don’t want to go with the cliché New Year’s Eve dress.  NYE in New York City is cold!  Try hailing a cab after the clock strikes midnight — absolutely impossible!  There are many years when this look could have saved me from basically freezing to death on a NYC street.  I once spent two hours walking around downtown Manhattan and begged a NYPD officer to drive me…

Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

Last weekend, I picked out my Christmas Tree at a local farm.  It’s always such a fun experience hunting for that perfect tree, hot cocoa in hand.  Today, we’re expecting our first snowfall of the season.  I love snow, as long as I don’t have to commute in it, and the timing of this storm and the weekend makes it perfect to enjoy!  This morning, I’m going to sneak out to the gym, and then retire at home to try out some Christmas cookie recipes.  Have you ever made Italian Neapolitan aka rainbow cookies?  I got the recipe from a…

Bold Red Coat

One of my favorite accessories during the colder months is a bold red coat.  It simply elevates every borderline monotone outfit to another level.  Also, I think it’s a color most of us can pull off.  Red coats are bold, happy, and completely timeless.  It’s a staple that will last you through the years.  Red is also a great winter color that goes with everything and can be dressed up or down very easily. Red coat (old, but I love this current version)  //  Striped bodysuit (runs small in chest, sized up)  //  Hermes Constance belt  //  Vineyard Vines tassel…

How to Wear Velvet

Velvet is having a serious moment right now, and I couldn’t be happier!  The fall trend is back this year, and I’ve already stocked my closet with provisions.  I love that it has such a regal, refined, and sultry vibe.  I own a few black staples, but I have been dipping my toe into a few bright color pieces to add to my collection.  A blazer is a great way to wear velvet.  This jacket comes in 5 drool worthy colors — the red and the pink options are giving me life! Because velvet is such a rich fabric, I…
