Summer Regimen With Adams Flea and Tick

Summer is off to a great start! After all that gloomy spring weather we experienced in the Northeast, we’ve finally tuned the page to warmer, sunnier skies.

While fleas are never a huge issue for Lexie, ticks are the BANE of her existence.  We live on over an acre in suburban Northern New Jersey and encounter a fair share of wildlife.  Between wild turkeys, deer, foxes, and the occasional bear or coyote sighting, we are used to a plethora of wildlife.  Waking up to a family of deer sleeping or grazing across our lawn is very common.

Unfortunately, along with deer, there is the real threat of ticks and Lyme disease.  My childhood dog, Molly, a black Labrador Retriever, was unfortunately bitten by an infected tick and passed away due to the debilitating effects of Lyme disease.  As a result, I have a heightened awareness for keeping my fur baby, Lexie, protected from fleas and ticks.  The best defense against Lyme disease is getting your pet vaccinated at your veterinarian.  The next best weapon is using a trusted flea and tick product.

Using safe products is important to me.  Adams Flea and Tick products have been trusted by veterinarians for over 40 years.  Their line is sold at Walmart stores making it convenient to shop.  I know that I’m getting the best price available.  The product that I’ve been most impressed with is the Flea and Tick Collar.

Lexie has been testing out the collars since they arrived in early spring, and I haven’t found one tick on her!  Normally, without this collar, Lexie would pick up 1-2 ticks a week after going out for walks and running around the backyard.  We’ve tried a competitor’s topical product in the past, but it simply didn’t work.  This Adams Flea and Tick collar is a serious game changer!!  I simply sized it generously to her neck and snipped off the extra with a pair of scissors.  Then, I slipped it over her normal collar. It doesn’t give her any skin irritation or affect her normal routine in the slightest.  She sleeps in it, plays in it — it just became a part of her!  The collars are designed to be used for 6 months at a time, and there are two per container.

My second favorite product from the Adams line at Walmart is the Flea & Tick Cleansing Shampoo for Dogs & Cats.  It’s moisturizing and does a good job as an extra step of defense.  I bathe Lexie every few weeks unless she gets into mud.  This product is a great extra step in keeping the fleas and ticks at bay. It also smells great and doesn’t irritate her eyes.

The final step of our summer regimen is using the Adams Flea and Tick Spray on our outdoor cushions and chairs.  It kills on contact and even repels mosquitoes.  The Adams Flea and Tick Spray gets rid of adult fleas along with their eggs and larvae for up to 2 months.

I used it to spray down all of Lexie’s outdoor furniture that sits in the grass.  It’s so easy to use, and it doesn’t have any detectable smell.  I like that it goes on clear and dries fast.  I haven’t noticed any bugs on her cushion since I sprayed it!
