It’s been forever and a day since I updated this blog with some new fashion content, but I was feeling pretty uninspired by the items in the stores. Finally, this blue feather embellished top called out to me. Do you ever get into those fashion ruts? Are you also feeling generally uninspired by what retail is generating? I’ve seen a huge decline in quality in some of my favorite stores, so my focus has been shifting to more expensive brands. I’m spending less by waiting for deep discounts. Also, I’m trying to reinvent what’s in my closet already. And with the prices of things lately, I’m sure you’ll agree that you want to spend money wisely.
There are a few things I will still purchase, and those are high quality basics — such as these sleek black slit pants, which can easily transition from the office to evening — and fun, “avant garde” pieces. I guess you can say that I’m in my “Avant Garde Era” as I approach my 40s — (eek! that number will sting when the day arrives) — but I am feeling more confident and willing to take fashion risks. Like wearing a blue feather embellished top or sequin statement dress. Does anyone else feel this way as you’ve gotten older? Like am I going to be in my Patricia Altschul gilded caftan era eating caviar off of fine china in my late 70s? At this rate, probably!
Blue feather embellished top — also available in white — runs large. I sized down. // Black slit legging pants — on sale! — (also available here, here, and here) — wearing size P (XS) // J.Crew slingback heels (old), but I like these matching blue ones that look like Gucci and this feather option // Prada sunglasses // YSL Cassandre clutch (old), but here is a pre-loved one and I like this less expensive version
